My New Outside Blog: One Way to Beat the Texas Heat!

One Way to Beat the Texas Heat!

JIm & Bear After a Long Run

There is one way to beat the heat ... no I'm not doing a post to rub in the fact that our Dallas Mavericks took the NBA Title.

Each morning my husband Jim takes our Black Lab, Bear (a female .. my husband named her and I thought it sounded like a boy name but I digress) for a job.  We live in a beautiful community in McKinney, Texas know as Eldorado, which is a master planned community known for its trees, golf courses and pretty terrain.

Now I know you members that live in parts of the country that these would look like shrub trees must understand, this is a rare sight for thie geographic area so it is a wll sought after premium ... trees!

Bear enjoys her after run treat of a good hose soaking and bites of water as she enjoys the cool down!

This time of year in Texas we have been reaching 100 degrees and promises of even higher temperature to come.  It is during these times that we reflect on those special moments in the winter and wish we could average the temperatures to get a cool crisp enjoyable day.  During her runs I imagine Bear is fantasizing on the past ...

Of course we all know how the Dallas area beats the Heat!

OK, so I'm proud of our TEAM!

What a great looking dog. Just be careful please dogs can get oveheated even when soaked and in excess heat collapse and die. I volunteer with an animal rescue group and have seen this.

Good morning Connie....Beats the Heat....my family in Miami are so sad.  Great picture of Bear...love her.  She is like my male Boxer named BABE.  My mother calls him a she all of the time.  Your house and gardens are beautiful.  Have a great day!

Hi Connie,  Bear looks great.  What a great looking golf course, I think I may have to check that one out sometime.  Love it that Dallas beat the Heat.  Have a good one!

Glad you all stopped by to visit and share in the FUN!  Appreciate your time to comment!

Shelia - Oh not to worry, Bear is a very pampered dog and as it get hotter she is more taken on short walks than a run.  We even have her own private little pool to hop in and out when she is not in the house.  We are very careful as all animal owners should be in the Texas weather - hot and cold.

Dave - just a little local humor and a little jab at the HEAT fans as well.  Another hot one today, felt like I was melting!

Judith - I love your Babe as well, darling boxer beauty!  Sorry about your family's disappointment but I have a strong feeling that next year will be another great HEAT team showdown.

Will - Eldorado is a good golf course but the best in our area are - Pete Dye in Stonebridge Ranch which is used as a warm up for the Byron Nelson and the newer one - TPC at Craig Ranch.  You would love McKinney - 7 golf courses just in our town.  Lots of greens and lots of smiles!

Teral - She is a mess and just is a typical lab - dives for all water.  Stayed away from the parade - felt that we have already beat the Heat and I would too by staying out of it.

Have a Great Day!

Patricia - Drink that water and stay in when you can.  Hard to do that while showing homes .. I take a cooler of iced water for all and tell all to dress in shorts or for comfort!  Thanks for the visit!

Connie...

I know that a lot of folks in Cleveland were sure pulling for the Mavericks! And now the Heat can just go away!

I saw that Lebron said he didn’t win the title because God decided it was time for him to do that yet. Does God really root for sports teams and sports figures? Aren’t there more important things for her to do, like feed the hungry, heal the sick, house the homeless. Little things like that. I kind of rooted for him while he was with Cleveland, but after that ESPN show where he announced that he was taking his talents to Miami, I’m just as much a naysayer on him as the rest of the non-Mimi world.

Connie - Bear looks like she enjoys her "watering down".  We haven't had any 100+ days yet but I taking my fur babies for their walks either early in the morning or early evening when its cooler.  During the days, the love laying around inside on the cool tile floors.
